HILLWALKING AT KILFINANE OEC
Hillwalking and Mountaineering are truly a sport for all ages.
At Kilfinane OEC we provide walking at all levels from Introductory Walks to Gaisce Expeditions on Waymarked Trails to Navigation and Skills training up to Mountain Leader level.
Kilfinane OEC is located in Ballyhoura Country which is a walkers paradise. There are ample loop walks, marked trails to include the 90km Ballyhoura Way and open hillside routes to choose from. We are also within easy reach of the Galty mountains and also travel to the Knockmealdown and Commeragh Mountains.
Our staff hold Mountain Leadership and Walking Group Leader qualifications and we are also approved to provide Mountaineering Council of Ireland recognised training and Gaisce expeditions.
The sense of achievement & teamwork felt on reaching a challenging peak such as Galtymor for the first time makes Hillwalking a great activity for school or youth groups and for this reason is included in nearly all our multi-activity programmes.
We also offer Mountain Skills and other specialist courses for beginners, where participants can learn the skills of map and compass, basic weather and mountain safety. We can provide all specialist equipment including quality walking boots for beginners.
