Kilfinane OEC are pleased to announce that construction on our new Indoor Climbing Wall is fully finished and the new rockwall is now operational.
The Climbing wall features a host of roped climbs to suit all levels and abilities, lead climbs, a beginners inclined slab, plenty of overhanging sections for the more accomplished climber and a bouldering section.
There has been lots of interest in the new wall so we are delighted to announce that Public Climbing Sessions will begin every Friday night commencing 17th April 2009. We are also starting a new Youth Rock option every Friday night from 6pm - 7.30pm for youths aged 8 -16yrs. Details as below.
Indoor Climbing Public Sessions - Friday nights from 7.30 -9.30pm Admission €10
Our public sessions are open to climbers of all levels from beginner to advanced. Experienced climbers are required to complete a belay test for safety reasons. We will have extra staff at the rockwall for the first 2 weeks but after that please contact the centre in advance if you need to complete a belay test. If you don't have any climbing experience then please come along for an introductory session with instruction at no extra charge ( please book in advance to ensure we have adequate staffing). Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult who has completed a belay test. Alternatively under 18's can attend our Youth Rock Climbing sessions earlier in the evening.
Youth Rock Climbing Sessions - Friday nights from 6.00 -7.30pm Admission €8 U18, €10 Adults
New for 2009 our Youth Rock sessions are open to youths aged 8-17yrs. Our Youth rock sessions include instruction by our experienced and qualified staff. These sessions will be informally structured to allow for climbers of different abilities. We'll show you how to get climbing, build up your strength and skills along with all the gear and ropework you need to climb safely. Parents & Guardians are welcome to join in.
